I have loved making art from the moment I was able to hold a paintbrush! As a young child, I thought that having the “big” box of crayons was the greatest gift imaginable, as I was thoroughly intrigued by the 64 different colors... each with its own unique name, qualities and possibilities. To this day, I am still thoroughly captivated by the magical aspects of color, and I fully enjoy exploring and examining the way it interacts with light and defines a moment.
My paintings are fueled by the way I experience moments and the beauty that those moments behold. I am especially fascinated by the little things in life that may often go unnoticed, or taken for granted, but are actually a pinnacle of beauty... something full of wonder that deserves appreciation. Maybe it's a subtle variation in the edge of a fish's fin, a reflection captured by a cube of ice, or the random arrangement of lollipops in a bowl... All of these simple things can contain a sense of awe. One just has to stop and look. Through my paintings, I ask the viewer to pause and to fully embrace sensually, what a moment has to offer.
The subjects of my paintings are often chosen based on their colors and their reflective and/or transparent qualities. I enjoy looking very closely at an image, abstracting it to a unique point of view, and presenting it with a fresh, new perspective. I generally work with oil paint on hardboard, utilizing a variety of glazes and layers to produce translucent effects.
Many of my paintings are inspired by my travels to the Caribbean, my favorite part of the world, and a land that is infused with vibrant color. I also have several pieces that were inspired by my experiences in France and Monaco.  Although much of my work is a result of my adventures abroad, a great deal is also derived from right here at home. Beautiful moments happen every day no matter where you are. I hope you enjoy!
